Andalou Naturals on GMO Free Green Beauty + Giveaway

October is Non GMO Month, where we can celebrate the consumer's right to know about GMOs in their diet and beauty products. In honour of this month, Andalou Naturals has launched their new campaign, Beauty is You. They've asked me to support them in this new project by speaking to you about GMOs in our beauty products. I'm going to introduce Andalou, talk about GMOs, and share Andalou's giveaway with you!

Andalou Naturals was the first natural beauty brand I tried. I actually started with their Clarifying Cleansing Gel, which is wonderful, aside from the fact that I have dry skin. Silly teenager me thought the cleanser would get rid of my acne, but I didn't even think of how it'd effect my dry skin. Needless to say, I switched cleansers, but I've been using Andalou ever since. They're a brand committed to creating natural, effective, and affordable beauty products.

In 2011, Andalou Naturals was the first "brand to achieve 100% Non-GMO Project Verification on every single product" (Andalou). Now you may be asking, why should I care about GMOs? Good question! GMO stands for genetically modified organism. Some people think GMOs can be good because we can engineer food to be bigger, which could help solve world hunger. But we don't know enough about these to say if they're safe or not. Jane Goodall spoke about avoiding them because of the harmful effects they have in animals who have eaten genetically modified feed. She mentions animals "such as mice, cows, and pigs that have experienced adverse effects - ranging from diarrhea to tumors - from eating genetically modified feed" (Miller). Personally, I don't like the idea of modifying food and I haven't heard any solid evidence that it's a good thing, so I avoid them as much as possible. Which is why I love Andalou because all of their products are completely GMO free.

October is Non GMO Month so it's the perfect time to talk about label transparency and Andalou's dedication to Non-GMO personal care products. Their new campaign is to bring awareness to the choices we make and to remind us that we have the choice to be ourselves and to follow our beliefs. When it comes to beauty, we can make choices that align with our thoughts and we can be true to ourselves. You can support initiatives to make transparent labeling more available, you can choose to eat organic, and you can simply chose brands like Andalou.

To celebrate, Andalou Naturals has a fantastic giveaway going on their Facebook page. The giveaway asks you to nominate someone who embraces beauty - the person who lives their authentic self, the person who defines beauty by being true to themselves and their beliefs. We want you to tell that person that "Beauty is You". Two winners (the friend and whom they tag) will be chosen for a free skin consultation AND a year of Andalou Naturals products (valued at $750.00)! That's right! You and your friend could win a year of beauty products! The giveaway launches on October 19th at 9 AM PST and runs until the end of October.

I hope you've enjoyed this post and I hope you'll enter their wonderful giveaway!
