Leaves of Trees Brightening Face Mask Review

Leaves of Trees Brightening Face Mask Review.jpg

When I first discovered Leaves of Trees, I was drawn in by their gorgeous products made with organic, fair trade, and minimal ingredients.

First I indulged in their Frankincense Argan Oil, and when my skin looked better than ever, I knew I had to try their Brightening Face Mask

Let's Talk Ingredients.

Unlike most of my face mask collection, this mask is already mixed - so you don't need to get your hands dirty mixing clay and water. It has a really nice creamy, light texture that just glides onto your skin.

It's made with...

  • Kaolin Clay
  • Pineapple Powder
  • Bilberry Extract
  • Sugar Cane Extract
  • Sugar Maple Extract
  • Orange Fruit Extract
  • Lemon Extract
  • Coconut Milk*
  • Honey (And) Maltodextrin*
  • Tamanu Oil*
  • Lavender Essential Oil*
  • Orange Essential Oil*
  • Ylang Ylang Essential Oil*
  • Turmeric Extract
  • Grapefruit Seed Extract And Glycerin

* = Certified Organic

As you can see, this face mask really packs a punch. There's all kinds of plant based goodness in there - healing and soothing kaolin clay, exfoliating pineapple, replenishing fruit extracts, brightening and soothing essential oils, anti-inflammatory turmeric, and my favourite - hydrating and repairing tamanu oil.

While it's not the star of the show (that would be the clay, pineapple, and turmeric), tamanu oil is an incredibly nourishing oil for all skin types. It's ideal for healing acne scars, wrinkles, and for truly moisturizing your skin. It's also ideal for keeping acne at bay. I've used it for years, and whenever I see it in a product, I know that product is going to work wonders.

Let's Talk Effects.

So you know the ingredients are amazing, but do they work?

Absolutely. I've been using this mask for weeks and I adore it. Here's why...

As I mentioned earlier, this creamy, pre-mixed formula is ideal for when you just don't have time to mix a mask together. The creamy texture is light and fluffy, and it easily glides onto my skin. And the best part? It doesn't harden like most clay masks. While it does harden a little bit, it's still got a soft, creamy texture that makes the mask super easy to remove. And when the mask is easier to remove, it's much more gentle for your skin.

Now most brightening masks don't work. It's rare to find a good face mask that truly brightens your skin, but this one totally does. The pineapple powder exfoliates while the turmeric powder brightens and reduces inflammation, leaving you with super bright, clear, and luminous skin.

But this face mask is more than a mask. It's also incredibly softening, just like an exfoliant. While I use an exfoliant weekly, I've found that regular use of this mask has left my skin super duper soft - way more than the exfoliant ever has. I credit those exfoliating pineapple enzymes and the gentle kaolin clay.

All in all, this is an essential face mask for all skin types. It's gentle, soothing, clarifying, softening, and brightening, which we all need! I like to follow up with a good face oil to moisturize my skin and seal in all the plant based goodness.

Have you tried anything from Leaves of Trees? What did you think?
